"Academic Ranking of Indian central universities in Science and Technology as Represented in Science Citation Index - Expanded (Web of Science): A Scientometric Study of last five years from 2005-2009" by Prof. Shabahat Husain and Mr Muzamil Mushtaq.
ABSTRACT:
There are a number of parameters to evaluate an academic institution and one of them being the publication output of the institutions. Keeping this parameter under eye,the present paper was compiled which focuses on the various publication output patterns of Indian Central Universities, depicting the picture of the Scientometric constructs with the data collected from the widely used database-Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E).The Individual Universities were searched out and the data was recorded using the distinct limiting options of the database. The data so obtained were worked out and interpreted in accordance with the Scientometric methods and thus obtained the results. It was found that the University of Delhi occupies the first rank leading other Universities in the country, normal linear growth trend of output with least publications in 2005 and highest in 2009, article form the most widely used, english language to be frequent medium of communication, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology followed by Materials Science, Multidisciplinary with highest publications, Current Science evolves the first ranked journal title, etc.
