About the Workshop
Information Technology has made advances over the last several years. As the World Wide Web grows, it is becoming more and more complex for
humans to efficiently find and exploit the information. The underlying idea of having a description of data available on the Web is organized in such a way as to be used by machines. Therefore management of information on web is crucially important for better utilization of resources.
The information professionals in all kinds of information warehouses have to apply the tools and techniques of ICT to meet the changing requirements of the users by innovating its procedures and systems. This workshop aims to help the library professionals to get an overview and hands on experience on designing library web portals and developing subject gateways. This workshop intends to sharpen the skills of information professionals to present information effectively using internet technology.
Web Portal Designing
Web portal is a web site that functions as a point of access to information in the World Wide Web. A portal presents information from diverse sources in a unified way. This workshop will give hands on training to most of the activities involved in designing a library web portal.
Subject Gateways
Gateways are the Internet search tools to help people find resources on the Internet. They are Internet based services designed to help users locate high quality information that is available on the Internet.

Registration
There is a registration fee of Rs 500. It includes the workshop folder,
working lunch, and high tea. Registration fee can be paid by Cash/Bank

Participants will be given a certificate on successful completion of the
workshop.
