Research Librarian at Franklin Templeton Investments - Mumbai, Maharashtra

Provide in-depth information research, ready reference and data mining for portfolio managers and research analysts. Use sector expertise to provide specific research need. Apply secondary research through multiple databases, online sources and Internet. Research, analyze, filter, synthesize and format information into actionable information output for individual clients or teams with focus to industry/topic research, macroeconomic indicators, company financials and valuation parameters. Customize information services to better meet specific needs. Deliver information packages and alerting services. Leverage information technology and computer applications to improve and streamline access to information in the context of investment research process.

Ad-hoc research: Provide in-depth information research, with a special focus to quantitative information, qualitative research, ready reference and data mining. Conduct searches of multiple databases, online services and Internet.

Work on regular schedule services such as Country, Industry & Company research packages, Literature Guide, Interesting Finds etc.

Analyze, filter, synthesize and format information into actionable information output for individual clients or teams.

Participate on library projects, team meetings, clients interactions, trainings.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate/Post Graduate in any field
  • Minimum One/two years relevant experience on Information Services/Investment or business research or Knowledge Management.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Any certification on Information services, Library services preferred but not essential
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Any certification on Information/research services preferred but not essential

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong knowledge of online searching techniques necessary to retrieve, collate, synthesis financial and statistical data; broker research, company filings, news stories, articles from academic press and trade publications, government and regulatory material, images, and other types of information.
  • Bring in sector expertise; industry research experience will be preferred.
  • Familiarity with quantitative information/data related to macroeconomic indicators, company financials and stock information's. (Create charts and graphs)
  • Knowledge of the investment research process including investment concepts, terminology, key data types, research process, etc
  • Familiarity with business and finance online research systems such as Thomson Research, Thomson One Analytics, FactSet, LexisNexis, Factiva, Bloomberg, etc.
  • Experience with information technology, including databases, filtering technology, taxonomy, indexing, search engines, file types, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Exposure to financial service, investment management industry is a plus.
