           Mr. Mohamed Musthafa.K, Research Scholar in this department bagged the ‘Best Paper Award 2011’  for his paper on ‘Application of ICT in Islamic libraries in Kerala: Problems and Promises”, presented at National seminar on contemporary issues for library professional in the digital Era (NASCIP 2011) held at INMANTEC institutions, Ghaziabad on 22, January 2011.

            Mr. Muzammil Mushtaq, Research Scholar, also presented a paper in this seminar on ‘open access repositories in SAARC countries: an assessment’ written by Tabasum Maqbool of Kashmir university.

Jordan IFLA/OCLC Fellowship 2012

The application deadline for the 2012 Jay Jordan IFLA/OCLC Early Career Development Fellowship Program is 18 February 2011. This program, jointly sponsored by the American Theological Library Association, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and OCLC, provides early career development and continuing education for library and information science professionals from countries with developing economies.

Up to six individuals, including a theological librarian, are selected for participation in this intensive five-week Fellowship program. Four weeks are based at OCLC headquarters in Dublin, Ohio, USA; one week is based at OCLC in Leiden, Netherlands. The program gives Fellows opportunities to meet with leading information practitioners, visit libraries, and explore topics including information technologies, library operations and management, and global cooperative librarianship.

Best beginning of the NEW YEAR 2011

The New Year 2011 started with a successful opening for this department. Two best paper awards were bagged by the research scholars at a National Conference held on 7-8 January, 2011 at New Delhi.. Three papers were presented in the conference and one another paper was accepted and published in the proceedings.

3. Prof. Shabahat Husian, Muzamil Mushtaq, Sheikh Mohd, Imran & Hilal Ahmad Najar. Electronic Publishing with an incline towards open access publishing: A study of author’s perspectives in the field of Medicine.
4. Shazia Khan, Saima Khan, Surraya Ghalibeen. Building digital libraries: tools and techniques.

Mr. Tanweer posted in Fiji

Mr. Tanweer Naqvi, a doctoral student of this department, is recently appointed as the librarian of Fiji National University, Fiji.  He will assume the office by the 2^nd  week of January 2011. Mr. Tanweer completed his BLISC (2001) and MLISc (2002) from this department. He had worked as a library professional in Delhi and Noida for few years. Prior to this new assignment, he was pursuing doctoral research under the guidance of Dr. Sudharma Haridasan in AMU. He has successfully completed his research and submitted the thesis for award.

            The department organized a farewell party to Mr., Tanweer, on 4^th January in the seminar hall. Dr. Naushad Ali, Chairman of the department, said in his presidential address that Mr. Tanweer is one of the successful students of this department and a role model for the others.

            Associate Professor  Mustafa Zaidi, Dr. Sudharma Haridasan and Prof. Masoom Raza (HOD, DLIS, NEHU) graced the occasion. All the research scholars, MLISc and BLISc students and staff of the department were present.

            We congratulate Mr. Tanweer and whishes all success in his career and pray to the Almighty for higher achievement in future.
